Under cabinet lighting is ideal for both task lighting & accent lighting. Used primarily in kitchens, under cabinet lighting is a perfect solution for emphasizing activity on counter tops while providing minimal glare as well as an attractive & efficient way to illuminate a focused area.

While there are several bulb types available, the two most commonly used for under cabinet lighting are incandescent & fluorescent lights. Incandescent lighting is typically found in residential applications since it is cost effective and easy to control with dimmers and other accessories. Incandescent bulbs function most efficiently in smaller spaces. Fluorescent lighting promises bright, shadow-less light in the desired task areas. Fluorescent bulbs produce low amounts of heat & provide an even distribution of light – they also last longer than most other bulb types!

There are two choices in under cabinet lighting installation: plug-in or hard-wired. Plug-in systems are straightforward and easy to install, while hard-wired systems offer a more attractive benefit since wiring is concealed and controlled by a switch.
