Recessed lighting provides for a versatile and powerful lighting option. From general lighting to task lighting to accent lighting and more, recessed lighting can serve a variety of functions and purposes within any residential or commercial setting.

There are three basic components of recessed lighting: housings, trims and bulbs. The housing option that you choose depends on the construction of your home. Is it new, old or remodeled? From here, you can easily determine which type of housing to implement. For example, air tight or energy efficient housings permit your recessed lighting to allow heat or cooled air to escape into your ceiling space. Choosing a trim is your next step. Your trim is the only visible component of your recessed lighting. Baffles can trap or shape light while reflectors can maximize the output of light in your room. Lastly, determine which bulb will most efficiently complement your setting. An incandescent bulb can create a warm glow and work well with daily decorative lamps, while a compact fluorescent bulb can provide general illumination, as it enjoys a long life and is energy efficient.
