Comments about Kichler New Street Outdoor One Light Wall Lantern in Black:
All funtionality (seals, ease-of-maintenance) are the same when turned upside down, as well as look great hanging down. Another modification (somewhat envolved), once upside down, the glass fixture and mounting base can be seperated. Then a chain can be used to hang the glass fixture even further down if/when mounting location is limited or restricted to have the light source be at the proper height (aesthitically speaking) with the rest of the home fixtures. But take wind considerations if doing so.
